What homes are made of
This month some of the team headed to Coventry to visit the Innovare Factory to get hands-on experience of how they make the Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) which will be used in the construction of some of our BXB homes. Innovare are the only SIPs provider in the UK to design, engineer, manufacture, deliver and install their own system.
SIPs are a type of off-site construction manufactured by bonding sheets of a material called OSB (oriented strand board) to rigid insulation, which forms an extremely strong structural material. The material is used to form walls and roofs for all or part of a building. The systems are hugely popular as they are lightweight, quick to construct, energy efficient and save time and cost on site. The use of timber within the structure also makes it more sustainable than traditional construction methods which can use a lot of energy intensive materials such as concrete.
Innovare are currently working on four BXB sites. We’re looking forward to seeing the finished product arriving on site very soon!
Remember our homes are open to purchase for Croydon residents first for a set time. So get registered and we will be in touch.
